OK, so one of my best friends created a name for this phenomenon... Growing up in Florida, we were bombarded with advertising for SeaWorld. Thusly, she grew up thinking all orca whales were "Shamus." It wasn't until nearly adulthood that she learned they were actually called orcas. So now, when we refer to this kind of mistake from childhood, we call it a Shamu.
