Thanks for this thoughtful piece! When I was cleaning out my mom's place and had linens/bath towels, I wasn't sure what to do with them and EVERYONE told me "animal shelter." I can't believe I hadn't thought of that. So that is where they went. And, I actually used my brain in determining what would and WOULD NOT be appreciated by orgs like yours... But I can see where you might run into issues with those that... do not ;)
